About The Stubborns

A combat sports gym in Raouche, Beirut, built on stubbornness.

The Stubborns is a Muay Thai and boxing club in Raouche, Beirut, Lebanon. It's run by Hussein Ghaddar, who fought for years in Thailand's promotions and is also a certified rehabilitation trainer. He still coaches every session himself.

We do one thing here: private coaching. It's you and a coach, or you and a partner with a coach, and nobody else. Nothing is planned for the middle of a group, so nobody sets the pace for you and nobody slows you down. Beginners start here as often as fighters do, and both leave sore.

There's one rule that matters: you don't need to be fit to start, you need to show up twice.

Why Choose Us

Why train at The Stubborns.

You train with a coach who has really fought, not someone who read about it. You'll learn technique that still works when you're tired, build real stamina, and get the kind of confidence that only comes from doing the work.

Expertise and certification

  • Trained in Thailand

Years competing in Thailand’s promotions, not a weekend certification course.

  • Certified rehabilitation trainer

We train around your injury instead of ignoring it, so old knees and bad shoulders get a real plan.

  • Muay Thai, boxing and kickboxing

One coach across all three, so your striking isn’t taught to you in three different dialects.

  • Private, every session

There are no group classes and no waiting for your turn. The hour runs at your level, on your schedule.

No Hidden Fees

Private coaching rates, and no joining fee.

Every session is private and booked directly with your coach. No joining fee, no contract.

Common Questions

Training in Beirut, the basics.

Where can I train Muay Thai or boxing in Beirut?

The Stubborns is in Raouche, on the western seafront of Beirut, and we're open six days a week. We're one of the few places in Lebanon that teaches Muay Thai, boxing and K1 kickboxing completely one-on-one, plus private injury rehabilitation. Beginners and experienced fighters both train here at their own level, and your first session is free.

Can I get a private boxing or Muay Thai coach in Beirut?

Yes, and it's the only way we work. Every session is one hour with one coach, either just you or you and a partner together. A private boxing coach or private Muay Thai lessons cost $35 a session, which drops to about $23 when you buy a monthly block, and you choose the coach, the day and the hour yourself in the client portal.

I'm a complete beginner, do I need to be fit before I start?

No, and almost nobody is when they start. The first weeks are set to what you can do today, because the training is what makes you fit, not something you need before you begin. Beginners are most of the people we coach.

Do you have group classes?

No. You train directly with a coach, either on your own or two of you together if you'd rather share the session with a partner. It costs more than a group class, and it's the reason people improve faster.

What should I bring to my first session?

Shorts, a t-shirt and water. We give you gloves, wraps and pads for your first session, so there's nothing to buy before you know if you want to stay.

How much does it cost to train Muay Thai or boxing in Beirut?

A single private session at The Stubborns is $35 on your own, or $50 for two people together. Monthly blocks bring the price down: 4 sessions for $120, 8 for $230 and 12 for $280, which works out at about $23 a session. Blocks for two people are $200, $360 and $450 for the pair. There is no joining fee and no contract.

Can women train at The Stubborns?

Yes. Every session is private and one-on-one, so your training is arranged around you and not around a mixed class.

Where exactly is the gym?

We're on Berlin Street, Raouche, Beirut, directly in front of Sports Ville and only minutes from Hamra, Verdun and Ras Beirut. We're open Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 22:00, and Saturday from 8:00 to 16:00. Follow the pin on Google Maps, or message us on WhatsApp and we'll guide you in.
